New Gods

All gods of the core-rule book are acceptable as primary deities. I am also giving players the option of creating a god, most likely a formerly mortal hero who was granted ascension before or shortly after the creation of the Spire. To do so, use the following steps:

  1. Give your deity a name and a history. Who was he/she in life, and what did they do to receive such an honor from the gods? What area of the primary deity’s influence does this god represent, and why?
  2. Pick five domains that the deity has sway over.
  3. Pick an alignment and holy symbol for your deity.
  4. Pick a favored weapon for your deity.

Thumar Bloodfeather – Gnoll Deity

In a time long ago when the land was whole our people had no lands of their own and were scattered across the plains. A young warchief, Thumar Bloodfeather, then rode across the steppes uniting the scattered tribes and claiming the Flamelands for the Gnolls. This frightened the gods who feared that the Gnolls, now one tribe, were too powerful and would soon ride swiftly like the stormseason fires and consume the world. So the gods convened at the center of the world where the fate of the Gnolls would be decided. Thumar heard of this meeting and he rode his mighty hyena to the realm of the gods so that he could make a case for his people. It was there in the god’s realm that he challenged the king of the gods to a contest of strength. The king of the gods agreed to this contest, but tricked Thumar into pulling the world against him. During the mighty struggle the earth was torn into four pieces. In the chaos that followed Thumar stole a portion of the god’s divinity and wrested control of the Flamelands from them.

Maavak the Stalwart – Gods of Defenders

During the Conqueror’s campaign in the Far Ridge, many estates held by Kobold nobility fell under his onslaught. As his armies gained control over the foothills, only the estate of Maavak remained free. However, all present knew it was only a matter of days before the mansion-fortress fell, so Maavak ordered a full retreat of all non-combatants and warriors, after a few preparations were made. After two days of sieging, Jowali’s forces stormed the gates to find the compound empty except for a single kobold in the tunnels beneath that lead to the enclaves in the mountains. Forty men entered those tunnels; seven hours later, two emerged, ragged and panicked. From one came the words that would place Maavak in history: “My men need three days to rally our armies in the mountains. I’ll give them ten.” As promised, it was near two weeks of ambushes, traps and bloody close quarter combat before he was struck down, some say by Jowali personally. Shortly after the war was concluded, a shrine was constructed in his honor, and his ascent to divinity was declared by a celestial herald.
